About Us
Sustainability
How much is fast fashion really costing us?
But the true cost to the environment is staggering. The constant supply of new clothes to market uses an incredible amount of energy and water, making clothing manufacture the fourth biggest environmental polluter after transport, housing and food.
On top of that, it is estimated that around 1/3 of all the clothes we have in our homes have not been worn for a year or more, and £140million worth are thrown away every year.
This can’t go on. Our customers are becoming increasingly aware of this growing problem, and want to find ways to address it, and they’re not the only ones. We have a growing number of relationships with major retailers who come to us to help them become greener and more ethical too.
Which is why we want to be part of the change, and we need you to help us.
Build a better world, together
Our commitment to helping the environment is not just another “greenwashing” tactic to bring in customers. We genuinely believe that what we do is contributing to a better, greener world.
This starts with the service we offer, of course: every item of clothing we can help to fit better and last longer helps the environment. It is calculated that the simple act of extending the life time of all our clothes by three months could help reduce the UK’s carbon footprint by as much as 10% per year.
However, it’s not just about helping our customers keep their clothes looking and feeling great for longer, but also the bigger picture. We are always striving to find ways to make our products and services more environmentally-friendly. In 2019 we became the first clothes alterations chain to sign up to the UK’s Waste and Resources Action Programme’s Sustainable Clothing Action Plan, and we also work closely with a number of schools and charities to support reuse and recycling.
It’s time to be a part of the solution!
